Events —Measuring Time in the Waiting Room
Threads of Fate
Three women dressed in brightly colored lab coats walk silently through the exhibition space, each playing a different role as a modern day version of the mythological FATES (Moirae) who represent destiny. Clotho the spinner pulls the tread from her spindle. Lachesis measures its length. Atropos cuts the thread.
As they move silently through the gallery tacking their threads across the floor and up the walls, they spin a web of overlapping strands of time. Atropos cuts one thread and starts another in a contrasting color. From time to time Lachesis breaks the silence and announces the length the thread has traveled. Clotho relates that measurement to a medical statistic followed by Atropos who announces a brief personal story contributed to the project by community members and project participants. Then they return to their task.
