Welcome to The Waiting Room: lost and found
We all spend time in waiting rooms at various times in our lives. All of the artists involved in creating this work have personal experience with these conditions themselves, or through someone very close to them. The Waiting Room is personal and universal. It reflects scientific, cultural and economic perspectives.
Look around. You may notice that the chair next to you reminds you of a neighbor, a friend, someone
you love, even yourself. Each chair in the room embodies a specific women’s health issue. Every item associated with that chair references a different aspect of that concern. Even the patterns on the upholstery narrate the challenges of treatment and recovery.
In the 2nd gallery space, Ex-votos and Milagros from community workshops are on exhibit as well as other objects and materials on the shelves can be accessed for additional information.
